Good pet nutrition is an important part of preventative health care as well as a core part of treatment planning for sick or recovering animals. We have a significant focus on nutrition in all our countries, both clinically and operationally and we are working across several projects to increase awareness of animal nutrition. Our recent partnership with Purina, now the largest pet food supplier in Europe, adds to our existing strong relationships with Royal Canin and Hills in this area.
Mark O’Byrne, Group Head of Nutrition, will ensure that nutrition becomes one of our most important pillars for prevention, underpinning the high standards of veterinary medicine and care provided to the pets we care for. We are coordinating all our efforts with our teams internationally to ensure a consistent approach to implementation of these initiatives in our clinics linked to the broader experience when clients enter our clinics.
Feeding your pet a wholesome, high-quality diet is an essential aspect of preventative healthcare and increases their chance of living a longer, healthier life.
In a world of dietary trends, some of which are more beneficial than others, understanding pet food and deciphering what’s written on the labels is getting harder and more confusing.
Like humans, our pets ‘are what they eat’. Their nutrition should be balanced and fed in a quantity that matches the individual pet’s species, breed, age and other lifestyle factors.
